Bernard Garrette earned his Master's degree from the HEC “Grande Ecole” in 1985 and his Ph.D. from HEC Paris in 1991.
His research interests focus on international strategic alliances and “Base of the Pyramid” strategies. He has co-authored numerous articles in academic journals (Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Research Policy, California Management Review ), as well as several books, including Cooperative Strategy (Wiley, 1999) with Pierre Dussauge, and Strategor (6th edition, Dunod, 2013), the leading strategic management textbook in French, with Laurence Lehmann-Ortega, Frédéric Leroy, Rodolphe Durand and Pierre Dussauge.
Bernard Garrette has been a visiting professor at London Business School (1997 and 1999) and at the University of Cambridge (1995-1996). He has also worked as a consultant (Senior Practice Expert in Corporate Finance and Strategy) with McKinsey&Company in 2000-2001. In 2004, he received the Pierre Vernimmen Teaching Award, endowed by BNP-Paribas. In 2010, the EFMD and the UNDP awarded him a case writing prize in the “inclusive business models” category.
