Recruitment Fairs

Having earned an HEC MBA, graduates are in a much better position to succeed in their job search. In addition, the resumes provided by the Career Development Service enable participants to get a head start on their job search.

Career Counseling

In the first trimester, participants will be expected to develop their personal career projects. To obtain feedback, they will present their plans to their peers later in the program. Career counseling is available to participants from HR professors or from the staff of the Career Development Service.

Career Fairs

Three on-campus fairs provide access to all HEC programs, including the HEC Grande Ecole, the Specialized Masters programs, and the full-time HEC MBA Program. One off-campus fair is designed only for HEC MBA participants. Companies are provided with a dedicated space so that interaction with students can be maximized.

  • International Finance Forum: October 18th, 2007; Attracts numerous international banks.
  • Consulting Forum: November, 2007; Attracts more than 25 consulting firms.
  • Carrefours HEC: January, 2008. This is a general career fair that is held over two full days and attracts more than 125 firms on an annual basis.
  • Career Fair/ Recruitment Presentations: October 24th, 2007 on the HEC campus

Conferences

Experts in their domain are invited to share their state-of-the-art knowledge on a subject of specific interest to MBA participants. Conference themes this year include:

  • Careers in finance
  • Overview of the consulting sector
  • Job-hunting techniques in tough times
  • Panel debate in which recent alumni relate their job search exerience
  • How to use head hunters
  • Working in France
  • Working in the UK and USA
  • Networking
  • Salary benchmarking

Contacts with the Alumni Network

Participants have many opportunities to meet alumni:

  • Professional career project workshops 
  • Events with alumni in specific fields of business in cooperation with professional interest groups, such as the Sustainable Development Club, the Consulting Club, the Finance Club, and HEC-NOW (Network of Women).

Careers and Corporate Information Center

The Careers and Corporate Information Center is a dedicated careers library where participants can get advice and assistance on career-related issues. The center contains career guides, surveys, books, and magazines. Participants can also find material about companies and documentation on how to change sectors and functions. Via the library's intranet, the center provides access to a wide range of online data, with links to selected job banks and information sources, that allow participants to consult job and internship offers.

To write better resumes and cover letters in English and French, participants can consult more than 250 books, which can also help them to prepare for interviews. Information about working abroad and the ground rules of salary negotiation are also found in the center.
