Learning French

Although knowledge of French is not an entry requirement, participants are strongly encouraged to have a minimum knowledge of French at the start of their MBA program. Intensive French summer courses are proposed for participants who wish to improve their French language proficiency. Through our partnership with a leading language school, we have developed a three-week course tailored to the specific needs of HEC MBA participants. Classes are offered at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Anyone who wishes to refresh their language skills will benefit from this experience.

Upon arrival, participants who are not fluent in French are required to take French classes. During the first four months of the program, these mandatory lessons are designed to reinforce French language skills. After this introductory period the participants with fluency in three languages will have the choice between continuing with French or not. The other participants will study French for the duration of the program, with the possibility of attending additional specialized French workshops. As a result, all HEC MBA participants are proficient French by graduation. In addition, training in languages such as Spanish, Chinese, Italian, and German is available, depending on student demand.
