A flexible, personalized program
I am a German citizen, but I grew up in seven different countries (Switzerland, France, Italy, USA, Germany, Honduras, and Spain), with 4 different languages. So, for me, the world is small and has no boundaries. As a result, HEC's multicultural spirit made me immediately feel at home.
One of the key advantages of the HEC MBA Program is its incredible flexibility, which allowed me to undertake an IPP in the Caribbean and go on an exchange to another world-class business school. I also valued the internationalism of the program and the superior quality of the staff and participants. I made some of my best friends at HEC, and I was really impressed by the HEC administration. I received personal contact immediately after submitting my application. No other business school did that, and I really appreciated it.
Academics that strengthen your passions
HEC has excellent marketing professors. I was especially impressed by the academic support I received for my marketing project, which really helped strengthen my passion for marketing. HEC also allowed me to do an exchange with the Kellogg Business School in Chicago during my final academic term, so that I could get a better feel for how people work on this side of the Atlantic.
Project work that boosts your career
I currently work as Insight & Innovation Manager at LIH, a marketing communications agency on the small, sunny island of Puerto Rico. The agency has won several international creative awards, including at the Cannes, Clio, and New York festivals. In this role, I am responsible for heading the Market Research and Strategic Planning department. Last month, the agency partners approved my idea to turn my department into a marketing consulting division to increase the agency's profitability. This will be my big project for 2008.
This job is actually the continuation of an internship I undertook while in the IPP track of the HEC MBA Program. My current employers were impressed with my project work, so they made me a full-time offer to start after my graduation from the program. The HEC MBA Program prepared me to cope with a huge workload and taught me how to manage time and stress (it's hard to believe, but stress actually does exist in the Caribbean!)
